The carbon dioxide laser (CO₂ laser) is a laser that vaporizes and removes warts, moles, and raised pigmented lesions. Since it does not use a scalpel, there is minimal damage to the surrounding skin tissue, resulting in faster healing and cleaner results.

Treatment details

The carbon dioxide laser (CO₂ laser) is a laser with properties that react to moisture.
Since skin cells contain a high amount of moisture, when the carbon dioxide laser (CO₂ laser) is applied to the skin, thermal energy is generated, causing the skin to vaporize and be ablated.
This property is used to vaporize and remove moles and warts. Additionally, since sterilization occurs during vaporization, it is also used to sterilize and drain pus from red, inflamed acne.
A distinctive feature of the carbon dioxide laser is the ultrapulse mechanism. Rather than continuously irradiating the mole or wart to be removed, it alternates between short periods of irradiation and non-irradiation, making it possible to minimize damage to the surrounding skin tissue. After moles or warts are ablated, the skin surface becomes depressed, but healing is rapid, and while individual results vary, the area typically becomes less noticeable within 3 months to 1 year.
Additionally, blood vessels around the irradiated area are instantly coagulated by thermal coagulation, allowing the procedure to be performed with hemostasis and completed in a short time.
