Male Hair Loss Treatment

Male hair loss is known as Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA). It typically begins after puberty or during young adulthood, with thinning of the hair at the crown and hairline progressing gradually.
While hair loss is a physiological phenomenon, it can significantly impact Quality of Life (QOL) by affecting one’s physical appearance.
AGA is linked to genetic factors and male hormones; specifically, testosterone is converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by a reducing enzyme in the body called 5-alpha reductase. When DHT binds to androgen receptors in the hair follicles, it shortens the growth phase (anagen) of the hair. As the growth phase shortens, hair cannot grow thick or long, gradually becoming thin and vellus-like, eventually ceasing to grow altogether. AGA treatment aims to normalize this hair cycle.

Finasteride

  • Increased hair shedding
  • Thinning at the crown or hairline with age
  • Fewer thick hairs and an increase in thin, soft hairs

The hair cycle repeats through three stages: ① Anagen (growth), ② Catagen (regression), and ③ Telogen (resting). In a normal cycle, the growth phase lasts 2 to 6 years, during which hair becomes thick and sturdy (terminal hair), growing approximately 1 cm per month.
Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) occurs when the male hormone testosterone combines with the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, secreted from sebaceous glands, to form dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT attacks the hair follicles and causes shedding during the growth phase, leading to a decrease in thick hairs and making thin, soft hairs more noticeable. This reaction occurs particularly at the hairline and crown, which is why thinning in these areas is prominent in AGA. This often manifests as the so-called M-shaped or U-shaped thinning common in male hair loss.
Susceptibility to hair loss is influenced by lifestyle (diet, exercise, stress, etc.) as well as significant genetic factors; caution is advised if you have family members or relatives with hair loss.

At our clinic, we prescribe Propecia (Finasteride) for the treatment of male hair loss.
Oral administration of Propecia (Finasteride) blocks 5-alpha reductase and suppresses the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), thereby preventing the progression of and improving AGA.

Velartis (Topical Minoxidil)

Velartis® is a high-concentration minoxidil hair growth lotion available exclusively through medical institutions.
In addition to the hair growth ingredient minoxidil, it contains various other hair growth and scalp protection components. Utilizing specialized liposome technology, it features high skin absorption and permeability, slowly releasing active ingredients after penetrating the skin (time-release delivery). It also strengthens the lipid barrier function and maintains moisturizing effects to improve the condition of the scalp.
While over-the-counter topical minoxidil typically has a concentration of 5%, Velartis offers higher concentrations ranging from 7% to 15%. Combined with the high permeability of liposome technology, superior results can be expected.
Our clinic provides minoxidil concentrations of 7% and 15%.

Key Ingredients

  • Minoxidil
Originally an antihypertensive vasodilator, its side effect of hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth) has been repurposed for use as a topical hair loss treatment. It is approved in Japan and available over-the-counter, but 2–5% concentrations are the most common. We offer high concentrations of 7% and 13%. (For Men)
  • Adenosine
An important endogenous organic compound that performs various functions within the human body. Recent studies have proven that applying adenosine solution to the scalp has hair growth effects for both men and women. It thickens the hair shaft and promotes hair growth, thereby suppressing hair loss.
  • Procyanidin B-2
A powerful antioxidant that protects cells from free radicals. It has been proven to increase hair diameter and volume. It lengthens the hair growth cycle and shortens the resting phase. This compound is found in the skin of immature green apples.
  • Procapil
Targets the primary causes of alopecia: poor scalp microcirculation, follicle aging, and follicle atrophy caused by dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
  • Other Ingredients
Propanediol, Apigenin, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Menthol, Peppermint Oil, Azelaic Acid, D-Biotin

Female Hair Loss Treatment

  • Concerned about hair shedding
  • Hair has become thin and the scalp is visible

The causes of female hair loss are more complex than those in men. Primary types of alopecia include “Diffuse Alopecia,” caused by aging or imbalances in female hormone (estrogen) secretion, and “Postpartum Alopecia” seen in women after childbirth. Other potential causes include stress, nutritional deficiencies from excessive dieting, the effects of illness or medication, and harsh hair dyes or perms.
At our clinic, we recommend Orthomolecular nutrient testing.
Additionally, we offer local injections of “Lizne,” a preparation using polydeoxyribonucleotide (PN) extracted from salmon and trout, which has wound healing and regenerative effects.

IV Drips / Injections

High-Concentration Vitamin C IV Drip

Recommended for those who:

  • Improve skin spots, dullness, firmness, and elasticity
  • Comprehensive anti-aging care
  • Chronic fatigue or tiring easily
  • Susceptibility to colds

High-concentration Vitamin C IV therapy involves administering ultra-high doses of Vitamin C (25 to 50 times the amount in standard injections or drips) that cannot be achieved through diet or oral supplements.
When Vitamin C is taken orally, much of it is excreted without being absorbed. By delivering it directly into the body via an IV drip, blood concentrations are significantly raised, allowing Vitamin C to reach every corner of the body. Vitamin C offers various benefits, including suppressing melanin production (the cause of spots and dullness), promoting collagen production (the foundation of skin firmness and elasticity), providing antioxidant action against active oxygen, aiding fatigue recovery, and enhancing immunity against colds and viruses. Each session takes approximately 60 minutes.

[Precautions for IV Drips and Testing]
・This treatment is not available for individuals with renal dysfunction, those undergoing dialysis, or those with dehydration.
・Since administering high-concentration Vitamin C intravenously to individuals with low G6PD (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, an enzyme in red blood cells) activity can cause severe acute hemolytic anemia attacks, we also perform G6PD activity testing.

Myers’ Cocktail

Recommended for those who:

  • For those with chronic fatigue
  • For those seeking to strengthen immunity
  • For athletes looking to improve physical performance

Dr. John Myers, an American physician, used vitamin and mineral IV therapy for over 30 years to successfully treat patients with chronic fatigue, asthma, and depression. The Myers’ Cocktail is a modified reproduction of his original formula.
The Myers’ Cocktail at our clinic contains a balanced blend of various B vitamins, Vitamin C, calcium, and magnesium. By effectively delivering vitamins and minerals that are often chronically deficient directly into the body, it helps regulate bodily functions.
It is highly recommended for those suffering from fatigue, and it is also expected to be effective for improving the athletic performance of athletes.

Placenta Injection

Activate cells throughout the body for rejuvenation from within

“Placenta” refers to the afterbirth, and placenta injections are pharmaceutical products containing active ingredients extracted from human placenta. Originally used for many years as a treatment for liver disease, placenta helps repair and regenerate liver cells damaged by viral hepatitis or alcoholic liver dysfunction.
The placenta is the organ that supplies all the nutrients necessary for a baby’s growth. It contains high concentrations of vitamins, amino acids, hyaluronic acid, and minerals essential for maintaining life, as well as various enzymes, cell growth factors, and cytokines (proteins released from cells).
Placenta injections consist of these concentrated active extracts. By introducing them directly into the body via injection, they promote metabolism and activate the cellular functions of the skin and the entire body.
The primary aesthetic benefits of placenta include:

Whitening (suppressing the production of melanin, the source of spots)

Moisturizing (providing a supple feel to the skin)
Cell Regeneration (repairing damaged cells and enhancing metabolism)
Amino Acid Supplementation (supplying the building blocks for cell regeneration)

These diverse effects allow for skin rejuvenation at the cellular level. Beyond aesthetics, it is also expected to provide various physical benefits such as fatigue recovery, liver function recovery, stabilization of female hormonal balance, and improvement of autonomic nervous system disorders.

In rare cases, redness, itching, or fever may occur at the injection site. Additionally, this treatment may not be suitable for individuals with drug hypersensitivities.
*Placenta is classified as a biological product; therefore, individuals cannot donate blood after receiving these injections.

Placenta Trigger Point Injection for Stiff Shoulders

This treatment involves injecting placenta and Neurotropin into specific trigger points to alleviate severe shoulder stiffness.
Neurotropin enhances the function of nerves that suppress pain, improves peripheral blood flow, and reduces pain and inflammation, making it effective for the pain associated with stiff shoulders.
